Small firms get in the frame

The European Commission has launched a series of initiatives to help make the Seventh Framework Research Programme (FP7) more friendly to small firms.
FP7 is the EU's main instrument for funding scientific research and technological development from 2007-2013 and carries a total budget of euro 54bn.
New initiatives include a higher EU-contribution to total project costs, the establishment of an FP7 guarantee fund, and simplified financial and administrative procedures.
