Danisco is developing new products to ease the abdominal pain of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) after research highlighted the analgesic effects of one of its patented probiotic strains: Lactobacillis acidophilus NCFM.
Researchers from the French national institute of health and medical research found that the oral administration of Lactobacillis acidophilus NCFM mediated analgesic functions in the gut in a similar way to morphine.
